Have had an immature Yellow-bellied Sapsucker drilling holes in the bark of our west Miramar back yard West Indies Mahogany tree. I first noticed it December 24 and it has come back every day since, spending 2-3 hours at a time drilling and eating. It shows a bit of yellow and red in its plumage. Is it expected to molt into adult plumage before the spring migration?
