Hello all,

I went to look for the bird this morning (Christmas) and quickly heard and saw a Great Crested Flycatcher. It was over in the parking lot of the marina. I had hoped to be able to gain access to the bank of the canal where we saw the bird. But I could find no one to give me permission.

I went back to the normal path going out to the jetty and heard the call that Toe and I had heard the day before. It was a two sylable call, except today the last part of the call had more variation in it. Making it sound more like the calls I heard online of the Ash-throated Flycatcher.

I never saw the bird, only heard the call. My time was limited because I had to go to work.

I spoke with Toe and he said that he may try looking later this afternoon and that Rock may try in the morning.

Good luck. I hope it is relocated soon and observations of the tail can finally settle the issue of the birds ID.

I tried to record the call, but my voice recorder didn't pick up the call. I need to get an directional external microphone for times like this.
