There are lots of loons offshore at Jensen Beach (South Hutchinson Island), a phenomenon I haven't seen before. There are two or three in view at all times.

I've never seen more than 4 in a day on Florida Bay and on our Christmas Count Friday I sat and counted 8 in one spot, and they were calling! I ended up with 14 just for our party. Perhaps as CBC season wraps up we'll see a clearer picture of this winter's loon distribution. I wonder how many other areas are seeing increased numbers.
