I'm not sure what constitutes an invasion, but I certainly concur that there are more Common Loons around this winter. I've never seen more than 4 in a day on Florida Bay and on our Christmas Count Friday I sat and counted 8 in one spot, and they were calling! I ended up with 14 just for our party. Perhaps as CBC season wraps up we'll see a clearer picture of this winter's loon distribution. I wonder how many other areas are seeing increased numbers.
