"Isn't it neat how our Florida birds are already feeding fledgelings while many other birds are just reaching their northern breeding grounds?" -Michelle Davis

Forget all the exotics for a few more weeks, the "Puppy Days of Summer" are at hand! Some birds we saw raising young this past memorial day:
(HY = Hatch Year)

GOVERNMENT ROAD
2 HY Crested Caracaras

CORKSCREW SWAMP
2 HY Barred Owls
Several HY Tufted Titmice, Northern Parula, White-eyed Vireo, Pine Warbler, and Wood Stork

MARCO ISLAND / TIGERTAIL BEACH
Several "puffball" HY Snowy and Wilson's Plovers
Several "darn cute" HY Least Terns

HY Black Skimmers should be coming soon! Swallow-tailed Kites too!

good babybirding

David

ps. you can check my new digital photo website at :http://woodcreeper.150m.com/index.html

As soon as I get my own camera (next month or so?) it should grow rapidly! I'm going to try and get some babybird pics this weekend, so stay tuned.
