Went to squeeze the last 30 minutes of our "earlier" sunset today at the Boynton Inlet. Nothing earth shattering will be revealed here but...I saw a group of birds flying parallel to the shore and heading directly to the Miami area:) (southbound). I knew they were not gulls or terns because they don't usually fly in the pattern I was witnessing. My instinct told me Northern Gannett and I was right! Toe, are you there? Do you need them for your bird-a-day? At any rate, he shot is just a record shot. Don't go wild trying to zoom in because the birds were at least a quarter of mile away. If you know your birds (most of you do!) you'll agree with my assessment. There were 10 Northern Gannets in total and 1 mystery duck flying right in the middle of the pack and right under them. Sea duck? I know it wasn't a Merganser because they fly a whole lot faster and they are larger than what's on the shot. I inserted a few better shots within that one posting from earlier this season to make up for the lack of quality on my photo-du-jour.
