People just do as they please without any consideration of anyone else. It has been my experience where I live that most have little appreciation for wildlife. Most are interested in the manicured look to their landscape/homes. Possibly some do not want to spend much time/money on their yards and so want few trees/plants as possible. It depends on what neighborhood it is.
