Folks, sorry I didn't post this earlier but I had a busy remainder of the day yesterday after we got back from birding. I just wanted to touch up on Trey's posting; make one more correction and emphasize on an obervation.
First on the correction. The Great-crested and Least flycatchers were seen at the Royal Palm entrance and not at the Annex. It's okay Trey, it was a busy day, keeping track of the birds being seen and where we were seeing them.
Second, I want to emphasize on what Trey mentioned on the flycatchers. There were TWO "Traill's" and not one, and only one of them called to confirm the Alder Flycatcher ID.
This first bird called several times from the other side of the road, across from where the pictures were taken. I believe I was the first one to hear it and motioned everyone else to the spot. I had studied the recording Larry Manfredi made of the Alder the previous night (a mellow "pip" or "bip") and also studied the Willow's stronger, liquid "whit" for comparison. The bird's call fit the Alder's (I still had to double check it as soon as I got home, while the call was still fresh in my head).
It then flew across to a short bush (can't remember what kind) giving us great looks. When the second bird arrived, not only were they on the same bush, but at one point, on the same field of view! This means that aside from an Alder Flycatcher, we also had a "Traill's" (since it didn't call, we couldn't confirm Alder or Willow; either one being possible). At least for me, this was a WOW! I hope other people have the opportunity to see these rarities (I'm sorry you dipped on the birds Maria).
Audubon of Florida Executive Director David Anderson was also there to enjoy this event, glad to bird with you David. Thanks again Sir Larry for the find...looks like you've gotten used to your new camera by now ;).

Cheers,
RJ
