I had earlier spotted at least one juv. Short-billed which still had the tiger-striping on the tertials. As for rufous vent, this is a useful character for long-billed, but you have to watch out for hendersoni short-billed, which can also show a rufous vent. In breeding plumage its usually clear enough which is which (they are not the same color).
