This morning Raul "Rock Jetty" and I set out in search of some year birds. We started at Matheson in hopes of seeing the Western Tanager seen yesterday. No luck. We then went to Sadowski where we found 6 Baltimore Orioles, one Spot-breasted, one Summer Tanager, and some warblers. At Castellow Hammock we quickly found the Dickcissel reported by Mark yesterday. It was with a flock of House Sparrows coming to the feeder. We saw only one Ruby-throated Hummingbird. We then heading to the Chekika area to see what's about and found an early western Palm Warbler at the entrance. We headed back to Castellow and within two minutes the Rufous showed-up at the Firebush and Bahamas Swampbush trees in the butterly garden. It gave some really good looks. Our last stop was the Cutler Wetlands. Water levels have dropped since the hurricane and the habitat looks good again. Most interesting birds here were a Bonaparte's Gull, 4 Northern Shovelers, and 16 Blue-winged Teal. There were also both Yellowlegs, Semipalmated, and Least Sandpipers. Thanks for the post Mark.
