This weekend I didn't see a whole lot. Rainy days and a special Mother's Day.
I had the brief opportunity to go to the Boynton Beach Inlet area and I came across a white yearling Little Blue heron...I have seen several of dozens of them before. This one was more unusual than the ones I had ever seen due to deep turquoise blue on the lores and base of bill (looking like it'd be entering breeding stages). I did some research and found out that some that White Yearling Little Blue Herons can breed at one year of age.Just learned something new. Also that they are responsible for less than 2% of all the nesting in Florida. It was actively fishing for small fish, shrimp (caught many), and even a pufferfish which readily rejected. I did not see it fly, did not see it with nesting material nor a mate nearby. Really cool to see it like that.
