Dick Cunningham finished the main portion of the book. It was hand written so Sonny Bass, who will write the Dry Tortugas' section, is currently
having it typed. Dennis Paulson will write the introduction. It will be published by the Florida National Parks and Monuments Association. I will keep everyone posted on the publication date.
I recently found a copy of his book A Field List of South Florida Birds which was published in 1961. Many of us used it as a bird finding guide in the 1960s. It still makes interesting reading. He told us that he did his first field trip with the Dade Ornithologists to the Loop Road area in 1951. It was led by Lou Stimpson.

: I was saddened to learn of the recent death of Dick Cunningham. I knew him from several TAS trips to the Dry Tortugas and from ENP and corresponding with him about Tigertail Beach and Marco Island in the "early days" (late 50's) when he and Dennis Paulson(?) used to do shorebird surveys there. This was long before the highrises obstructed the view and the beaches were raked for tourists. At any rate, I'll miss Dick as will everyone who knew him I'm sure. Question: when is his book on the Birds of Everglades National Park coming out?
