I spent a week in Honduras in February where our warblers and vireos usually make up a large portion of the birds seen. Not this year!! They were notably missing and my guide, Kevin Zimmer, had a similar experience in Costa Rica weeks earlier. So face it: tropical migrants are disappearing due to habitat loss on both ends plus pesticides, wind turbines, cats, windows, etc. Not to mention Toe's migrant-eating Cedar Waxwings.
