If you remain quiet in the face of overtaping you're part of the problem. Specifically, you.

Both TBVI and BAMO are well-documented for records purposes already, judging from what I'd seen. My best guess would be that you were there at 5pm and not at 4pm when same people (plus one other) were playing repetitive song and call tracks to pull up the TBVI for photography. It can be an issue with the toy lens brigade that they do that. I have zero doubt that this is the bander's serial m.o. - he'd probably tape in Massachusetts Fieldfare or NJ Northern Lapwings for a better shot. I prefer to use better hardware and more patience.

At 4pm I could hear the tape from the entrance to the nature trail as I was walking back from the parking lot along the road toward the TBVI. It was that volume, and the bird was what, 25 feet away ? Perhaps 30 ? The taping continued while I was there, and a little later one of the original group of 3 was using BAMO tape along the road. That was before you turned up. Best not to assume you know what was going on.

You'll find that I'm going to be aggressive aggressive and post that video publicly. I would love to correctly identify the individual concerned - care to share the name ? I'm not new to this game so it's not like I'm oh-so-simply shocked at gratuitous overtaping. It's abusive behavior. You're obviously more in the let it slide camp. I'm not.

The owl tape was a smartphone sitting on the ground on continuous loop played into an amplified speaker. If you want to play that game, rest assured that under no circumstances will I point out any bird to you anywhere, ever, but in actuality I wasn't going to call the TBVI position for the taper because he was overtaping it earlier and was likely to do it again.
