Decided to diversify today and went to BB Inlet & Intracoastal areas nearby.
On a Gumbo Limbo tree I had two Black-Whiskered Vireos (posted before from Spanish River but the pics were more like an ID). The one from today have a lot of detail. I am wondering if anyone who is familiar with the species could help with the ID on one who is most likely an Immature or a female BWV. I am thinking of an Immature as a personal guess.
Flushed a gorgeous male Summer Tanager. Next, I spotted a bird with a long tail and when i got to it flew away and at a quick glance and judging by the body type it may have been a Yellow-billed Cuckoo (Common in Spring around here).
Saw an Ovenbird and another Vireo with a black strip on the face - maybe another BTW...I was dreaming of another type of Vireo.
Several Mourning Doves
Near the Intracoastal area in Boynton, I had:
About a dozen Least Tern
One Peregrine Falcon
Several Laughing Gulls
Dozen or so Royal Terns
Several Ruddy Turnstone
Several Sanderlings
One Herring Gull
After that walk I could see the storm brewing and it was time to go.
Yesterday, my son and I stopped at South Regional Park in Boca and we were lucky to spot a couple of Western Kingbirds, 2 Scissor-tailed Flycatchers, and a Great Crested Flycatcher. I am so proud of my son for getting some good shots (I've included them on my page). I'm still working on my shots and if they are good I'll post soon. In the meantime, enjoy my 9 year-old son's flycatchers' pics!
p.s I added a better photo on the Prothonotary if you care to see it.
