Brian, thanks again for a great trip. Considering the locales, I found it odd that we didn't see any Sandhill Cranes. As it so happens, I did run into a couple of them on Rt. 710 (not literally!) on my way home.
For the botanically-inclined among the group, the terrestrial orchid was Habenaria floribunda and the the small yellow and orange milkworts (polygala spp.) were P. nivea and P. lutea. I haven't checked my pictures yet, but it is possible that we also saw the endangered P. smallii.
