Here i am again... Saw a lot of the expected birds in South Florida.
Some of the highlights were:
Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge:
A gorgeous male snail Kite feasting on a snail and a close up of a Red-shouldered hawk with mating colors beginning to show. I was there for a little while mostly watching from the comfort of my car since i did not seem anything worthwhile my walk.
Next day: Left the house late and drove to STA-1 W off CR 880. Most of the same i reported last week: I saw a few American Pelicans, A few Swamp Sparrows, a showing off Purple Gallinule and its wings spread open for closer inspection (there were other 5 of them in the same area (never seen so many all together), and a nice-looking female Northern Harrier. As usual, i am leaving a visual treat behind. Since last week, i noticed some male Northern Shovelers in flight and many more American Wigeons. The rest was status quo (though less numbers than last week). I did see some juvenile Crested Caracaras feeding alongside some Black & Turkey vultures (off CR880 towards Duda Rd). I will not post all photos at once because it's late and i don't give you a visual overload.
