Even if the Atlantic-coast Parakeets are not ABA countable as of today, there's always the opportunity for them to become so "tomorrow." If it matters.
I know there are many out here in the boonies who would really appreciate it if any of you old hands in the TAS area would divulge some specific locations as to where to find them in SE Florida. (Beyond Brian's Rapoza's wonderful book and the TAS bird list.)
I for one am planning (yet another) trip from Colorado this coming spring, and I am hoping to see the Nanday Parakeet, as well as what Paul Bithorn aptly called the "Holy Grail" of trippers such as I (who missed it during Paul's 2010 tour), the Red-whiskered Bulbul. Not to mention that darned Spotted Oriole. Don't get me started on the Mangrove Cuckoo -- too many trips without seeing one, and I'm not getting any younger. Ani? Any time, anywhere, but I despair.
I so much enjoy reading the TAS bird board. Hope you can mention a few Nanday spots.
Many thanks.
