On Sunday, Nov. 25 at mid morning a gate closed off Research Road past the Biological Research office where you turn left to head down to the Missile base. When I contacted a Ranger down at Flamingo later she said that they had been resurfacing the road in the last 2 weeks and wasn't aware of the new red gate. This will be devasting for us as we search that road for White-tailed Kites, E. Meadowlarks, American Woodcocks and Short-eared Owls and much more. Does anyone know if this is a temporary gate or the future to come. That base has been there for 50 years, with free access down that road. Why close it off now.
