After reading Jimmy Buffet's "A Salty Piece of Land" I had to hop the seaplane today for a great fly after the front pushed thru. CAVU windy morning! Wish I'd read your sightings first - I'd have loved looking for all those owls. I thought I saw your Mississippi Kite, flying, but didn't trust my eyes! I bumped into a group of birders hot on a Tennessee Warbler, saw 2 Peregrines, one perched all morning in a casement giving great looks, like a craggy lord of the castle. Summer, Scarlet Tanagers, Ovenbirds, Catbirds, Yellow-Billed Cuckoos, Lesser Nighthawk, so many great birds and many warblers all seen in just a few minutes I'm forgetting them all - I wasn't on a real birding trip - just taking the family flying and snorkeling. Can't wait to go back to this crazy good birding spot - you don't get any pelagics by plane too well though, just Magnificent Frigatebirds, sharks, turtles and rays. Got to go on the boat next time.
