Green Cay Display

A very unusual day at Green Cay with the display of a red-shouldered hawk diving on a moorhen and driving it underwater. The moorhen struggled for a short time then either drowned or bled to death. The water was deep enough to hinder the hawk from lifting off as it couldn't get wing flap space. The hawk talons were imbedded in the bird now underwater and dead. A real unnundrum. Let go to fly and you have no meal. Hang on and you can't even get to the bird to eat it. Stay too long and maybe an alligator or otter comes for dinner. We watched and waited for 30 some minutes and then had had to move on. It was truly nature in the raw.
