Awesome news Rafael and Ted! If you haven't yet visited the Florida Keys Hawkwatch at Curry Hammock SP, you should before the end of the season.

Yesterday's conditions were optimal if you were in search of raptors!  From a third floor vantage point at FIU BBC campus, many raptors were observed.  Falcons accounted for most of the sightings but Short-tailed Hawks were out in force as well.   From 2:30-4:00pm a nice variety of raptors were counted.

Winds - NNE 6-11 kts, partly cloudy, front passing through, many raptors on the heels of the front.

Osprey - 10
Sharp-shinned Hawk - 2
Cooper's Hawk - 1
Red-shouldered Hawk - 1
Broad-winged Hawk - 10
Red-tailed Hawk - 1
American Kestrel - 5
Merlin - 7
Peregrine Falcon - 21
Short-tailed Hawk - 7
Accipiter sp. - 2
Buteo sp. - 4

Optimal conditions should persist through the weekend, get out and look up!

Nature is Awesome
