I spent about three hours total between this morning and this afternoon in hopes of relocating and photographing the MacGillivray's Warbler. I could not find the bird.
I struggled to find 11 species of warblers, with many of the species represented in individuals, with the best being Magnolia.
The highlight was a bright Philadelphia Vireo at the westernmost section of the park, feeding high in the canopy among a mixed flock. Other migrants included Gray Catbird, only two Red-eyed Vireos, and a male Painted Bunting.
Numbers of birds were lower than in recent weeks. The north winds were the impetus for movement of migrating birds. I was in Savannah, GA, as of yesterday, where a fairly strong cold front passed on the night of 10/8. On that night, I heard the highest frequency of nocturnal migrants I can recall, with several flight call per second for the entire night.
