Jeanette - If your caged feeder like Tricia's doesn't work in your yard and you decide to invest in a new pole and baffle system, you may want to consider a Squirrel Buster Plus feeder. They truly are squirrel proof and have even survived 2 bear attacks in our NC yard. The only way a squirrel can eat from the ports is by standing at the same level as the port and reaching into the opening, without holding on. This is impossible unless you have a branch right next to the feeder. Most pole accessories hang the feeder far enough away from the pole to prevent this.

Buntings, as well as other songbirds will use the green ring to perch while they eat. All seed eaters will be attracted to the feeder, especially if you mix white millet with black oil sunflower seed, or use your favorite mix. Below is a link for a 3-minute YouTube video on the feeder. Several companies carry this Canadian-made feeder so you can shop around for the best price. I have no financial interest in this feeder but I can vouch for its durability, design and use by all songbirds.
