Hi everyone
As always when waterfowl appear out of range suspicion of their origins arise so I thought I'd post a comment on your pintails (which I'd love to see when I'm in Miami next week by the way).
I see W C pintails regularly in the Bahamas esp on Nassau and in particular on Paradise Island where genuinely wild birds can be fed by hand at Lakeview Drive lakes. I say this because using the idea of 'shyness' or 'tameness' (which is really just familiarisation or being desensitised to humans)as a criterion for genuine wildness isn't wholly valid with waterfowl. Its better to look for rings or feather damage I think but who cares. If they act wild fly wild and we enjoy seeing them in te open zoo that makes Miami great to visit then why not just enjoy them?
