Appropo to your post, Saturday morning at 7:05 I experienced over 50 nighthawks in a mixed "pod?" circling around Cardinal Rd (40th St) in Coral springs. The nighthawks were mixed in with swallows. the pod drifted southward so it was in sight for 10 minutes. The NH made no calls. The birds wheeled and banked from about 100 feet elevation to 20 feet from the ground and gave the appearance of a huge WWII dog fight. Very impressive
