Great sighting. I have seen Snail Kites foraging and perched on stunted mangroves along that same stretch in the past. One instance during spring 2011 (1 f.) and another during the fall 2011. I think Jeff Bouton might have a photo from that general location too. This is also a good area to look for Limpkins. This is an interesting succession area that appears to have noteworthy birds. It reminds me of the White Zone south of Paurotis Pond within Everglades NP. I also saw a Great Horned Owl in that vicinity, perched on a pole not far from there fall of 2010.

Let's get some Snail Kite movement further south!
