Some extremely slow bonefishing last Monday did enable me to see a very tame first year Northern Gannet floating a few feet off my skiff on the oceanside of Key Largo. That afternoon a sharp adult Common Loon was just off the oceanside shoreline of Sands Key- definitely strange watching a loon swim a great bonefish flat. The following two days I was West of Key West and found a dead Common Loon on the North side of the Marquesas. Last spring's NAMC we found a dead one on Carl Ross Key. There was also a dead laughing gull floating in the Boca Grande Tuesday and a friend who lives down there mentioned seeing a few dead Brown Pelicans. Does a red tide ever kill birds?
