As I understand it, "indigenous" means naturally-occurring, i.e. not as the result of introduction by humans. "Autochthonous" means originating in the place where it's found. So the Vermillion Flycatcher, if it naturalizes successfully, can become indigenous while the OWP presumably cannot.
