I got to the Black Point rock jetty around 5:00 pm this afternoon and Raul "Rock Jetty" (no pun intended) had already located the bird. It was sitting on the rocks right across from channel marker 19. The tide was outgoing but still quite high, so we had to wade to get close to the bird. The bird was clearly visible from the last piece of dry ground, but to get good looks you will need either a scope, or shorts and a desire to get wet. Of course, you could try earlier in the day during low tide. There were also a few least sandpipers, ruddy turnstones, willet, and black-bellied plover, all of which spooked when the peregrine that had been perched near the glaucous decided to come calling. Look for an all-white, rather large gull. Nice bird, thanks Jeff.
