Hello Everyone,

The San Diego County, CA June Challenge achieved a new record with 235 species seen plus 2 heard-onlys. My personal total was 213 species plus 3 heard-onlys. We did not really keep track of the multitude of exotic species found in the County.

The JC forced me and others out into the field more than usual, and we had some interesting discoveries as a result including a new breeding location for Indigo Bunting and the discovery of a rare migrant Red-eyed Vireo while looking for Belted Kingfisher (not found this year).

It was great fun locally and was equally fun to read all of your reports. A bird list is posted at the provided link. Just click on the list image then select "View All Sizes" to read it more easily. We look forward to next year's Challenge!

Jay Keller,
San Diego, CA
