To all Birders, First off, let me thank everyone in advance for reading this post, as it does not directly have to do with any immediate bird sitings, and this is likely to be somewhat lengthy so I can explain myself clearly. I have been doing some extensive research at Barry University in order to document what bird species can be observed there and what plant life they associate with. I'm doing this for a senior research project which I have to write a paper on my findings as well as give a 20 minute presentation. I have had some great luck finding some wonderful species at Barry, I began my research at the end of Jan 2004 and am still gathering data to date. What I need help is with filling in gaps in my data. I am trying to create charts/graphs detailing what species were found in what month/at what time of day or some similar arrangement (I'm not exactly sure yet, but I do want a concise visual representation of the bird species throughout the year).
The problem is that I was unable to observe at all for the month of June 2004, and I was only able to observe intermitantly from August through December. I can present the time I was able to observe a great deal, but I really what my presentation to be complete, it somehow does not seem fair to my listeners/readers to give only a partial representation of the birdlife found. So what I am asking all of you, and I would need to know that it is all right with everyone, or at least with enough posters to fill in my data, is if I can go through the TAS archives and use the postings to fill in my data. I will divide the representations of my data into graphs and a separate graphs representing the TAS data, and addressing individual posters if that is necessary for anyone. I do not intend to take anyone elses observations and present them as my own.
In addition, there is the possibility that the research paper I write for my presentation be published in a journal. If there is anyone out there who would be willing to help but does not want their name published in journal, or if there are people who would like to get there name's published in journal, perhaps it would simply be fair for both parties to be representated in any would-be publications as the TAS Birdboard or something to that effect. I am not at all sure of the likelihood of publication, but I want everyone to know of the possibility before they decide to help me. Thank you all for hearing me out and for any help you all might be willing to give/advice you might have for who I might try to contact in order to help me fill in my data. If anyone has any questions, you can email me at kiwiplum@gmail.com or else simply reply to this post, although I would rather not fill up the birdboard with non-bird postings. Thanks again!
