At Green Cay Wetlands today, I was overflown by a large black bird that initially didn't get my attention until it was too late - I tried to get a shot of it but wasn't ready at all with my camera so by the time I had it to my eye and started to search to focus, it was gone.
It was about the size of a healthy boat-tailed grackle or a fish crow - it looked like it had an all black body - but the beak was a bright orange, and the legs looked yellowish. Moreover, it had very vivid white wing bars on the ends of the wings - they flashed pretty clearly similar to how a mockingbird's do. It didn't appear to have any irridescence like a starling, and was much bigger than a starling anyway. There might have been some color on the top of the head or around the eye - orange or yellow - but he was flying overhead so I didn't get a good look at the top. He made no call while flying over. It's not anything I've seen, and I tried throwing the description into the What Bird website and dug around a guide - possibly this isn't something common to the area? Any help appreciated.
