Hi RJ, Sorry you didn't see the Black-throated Gray Warbler. Annabelle McKie and I were lucky enough to run into David Simpson (and a bunch of other birders)around lunchtime. David pointed out the bird to us, and he said he had found it by listening to its distinct call. Because the flock of pine warblers and blue-gray gnatcatchers is so large and moves so quickly and occupies several trees at a time, listening to the call can help you narrow it down to which tree. I mean, I didn't use this method, I just looked where he pointed, but it seems like a good method to try. And the banaquit is beautiful, Annabelle will post photos to Florida Birds soon.
