I went after both these birds on Saturday, Jan. 15th. I stopped at the Best Western Marina to look for the Bananaquit; some birders were already there. I located the bird at about 10:50 AM and made some new acquaintances in the process. I wasn't that lucky with the Black-throated Gray Warbler. Like Colin mentions in his posting, there is a LARGE flock of Pine Warblers (Yellow-rumped, Yellow-throated, and Prairie Warblers and Blue-gray Gnatcatchers also present) one has to sort through. After two hours of sorting (most of it under the rain), I decided to call it a day. One other birder had joined me near the end of my search (Justin from Amelia Island, FL), but we both came up short and then parted ways. He stayed and hopefully got to see it later. Oh well, I'm glad it's still being seen. I did receive a consolation prize (well appreciated) in the form of a Bonaparte's Gull (lifer) at Ocean Inlet Park.
Cheers and Good Birding,
RJ
