: My husband and I will be visiting Del Ray Beach from 4/16 - 4/20. We've never birded South Florida before and would like to hear suggestions regarding the best spots to visit. We live in New England and haven't done much birding outside the northeast, so any birds that we wouldn't typically see in NE would be target birds for us. We need to stay within about 1-1/2 hours of Del Ray Beach, unless there's a really great spot a bit further than that!

: Thanks for any suggestions offered.

To see Least Bitterns, Limkins, Purple Gallinules ,Anhinga, various ducks and maybe Spot-breasted O. and most on the Herons, Wackodiahatchee Wetlands in Delray on Jog Road about two miles north of West Atlantic Blvd. There will be numerous reports here in the future before April. Also another wetland should be open shorthly about a mile away from Wacky.
