I was walking on 9th Ave. just south of Davie Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale when a bird flew past making a "wak-wak" sound. It was the size of a small duck. It flew to a telephone pole where there was a hole the size of a cantaloupe. The top of it's head was red. It's movement was similar to what I have seen small woodpeckers do. It perched on the pole at the hole, then went in the hole. Was this a woodpecker?
