A recent trip to the ENP produce a variety of the egrets, herons, and the like. Of note, the glossy ibis at eco-pond, white morphs of Great blue on the Flamingo flats, wood storks in grat abundance, one solitary reddish egret at the marina inlet, a red-shouldered hawk nest building in a mahogany tree very near the Ranger headquarters (gotta look close), and very very tame palm warblers around Anhinga trail. Also saw the elusive Mangrove fox squirrel (I know its not a bird) in the mangroves along the road three miles from Flamingo. Anyone notice how blah eco-pond has gotten since they cut back the Brazillian pepper? And Ruddy turnstones still cavort along the shore line by the old "theater" at Flamingo. Osprey are nesting, one right by cabin D at Flamingo lodge.
