... by John Boyd and myself, at Peck Lake Park in Martin County. The bird was heard calling twice shortly after I arrived at about 9:00 AM, in the pines around the first small parking area on the right after entering the park. A few Pine Warblers were in the area, but the nuthatch could not be found. A group attending the FOS meeting, led by Soo and Flip Whiting had been in the park since dawn, but neither saw nor heard the nuthatch. Other birds seen or heard in or just outside the park included Mottled Duck, Red-tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, Eastern Screech Owl, Downy Woodpecker, White-eyed Vireo,Gray Catbird, Northern Parula, Yellow-throated Warbler, and Common Yellowthroat. I left at about 11:30 AM.
