This morning, Albert "Snail Kite" Gonzalez and myself birded A.D. Barnes for five hours (7:15 am to 12:15 pm). After reading yesterday's postings of the incredible fallout in South Florida, we were hoping for most of the birds to have stayed as well as new arrivals due to the cold front. A beautiful morning yielded the following notable species:

Blue-winged Warbler (1)
Tennessee Warbler (many)
Northern Parula (many)
Magnolia Warbler (4+)
Black-and-white Warbler (3)
Black-throated Blue Warbler (many)
Blackburnian Warbler (4)
Black-throated Green Warbler (2)
Yellow-throated Warbler (1)
Prairie Warbler (many)
Pine Warbler (many)
Palm Warbler (many)
Hooded Warbler (5+)
Worm-eating Warbler (1)
Swainson's Warbler (1)
Ovenbird (many)
American Redstart (many)
Summer Tanager (3)
Scarlet Tanager (2)
Swainson's Thrush (many!)
Gray-cheeked Thrush (many, finally!)
Veery (2)
Rose-breasted Grosbeak (5)
Indigo Bunting (1)
White-eyed Vireo (3+)
Red-eyed Vireo (many)
Yellow-throated Vireo (1)
Acadian Flycatcher (1)
Eastern Wood-Pewee (6)
Great-crested Flycatcher (2)
Gray Catbird (hundreds!)
Spot-breasted Oriole (1)
Cooper's Hawk (2, incredible looks as they perched and flew around us!)

Also seen by other birders but not by us:
Chestnut-sided Warbler
Wood Thrush
We ran into Susan Scneider, who unfortunately had to go to work and met Kitty Suarez, who got to see the Swainson's Warbler. Also met Greg Jones (I believe that was his name) along with a lady birder whose name I forgot (sorry), and two other birders, a couple, whose names I didn't catch. All in all, one heck of a day reminiscent of the Octoberfest at Barnes last year, only better!

Cheers and great birding,
RJ
