I just saw a strikingly vibrant Cape May Warbler in full breeding plumage(Very dark brown auricular against bright lemon yellow face.) I continue with the male N. Parula,Ovenbird and Palm Warblers. My Mango and Avocado trees are in full bloom. I have noted increased warbler activity before under these conditions. I guess more insects are drawn to the profuse blooms of these trees. The Cape May was seen within two feet of my back sliding glass door in bright indirect light in a Firebush. I also continue to have five-six Painted Buntings,a pair of N. Cardinals,a pair of Blue Jays, Bronzed and Brown--headed Cowbirds,Common Grackles,Red-winged Black birds and Monk Parakeets. I presently have three R.-throated hummers--a immature male fiercely guards the small nectar feeder I have hanging by my front door. He perches not more than 10 feet away on a bare American Beautyberry branch. The second the female hummer gets near the feeder he dashes madly after her. What a show! I been feeding the birds for many years very consistently otherwise I would not get the birds I do. My yard is very small. It has been worth all the work.
