While walking the 1.5 miles to work this morning, Feb. 22, 2012 at 715am, I heard and then spotted a hawk-like bird in a nearby tree. The bird then flew towards another large perched bird in another tree calling the whole way. It attempted to either dislodge the perched bird (which I later found out to be a Barred Owl) but the owl wouldn't have any of it. The Goshawk then flew off. Upon approaching the owl, I saw it had some sort of prey on the branch. He checked me out and then flew off himself.
I used my iPhone app to determine that the call of the Goshawk I was hearing was indeed that of a Goshawk and not some other hawk-like bird. However, the range of the Goshawk is much farther north. But I am SURE it was a Goshawk.
