Here at FIU Biscayne Bay Campus a similar event occurred yesterday. Northen Parula were in every fig or ficus tree we checked out. At one point as many as 25 birds were in a strangler fig at once! Mostly brightly colored males with some female-type birds mixed in. They made their presence known with many of the birds vocalizing incessantly. One male perched up and sang a short note before being chased up the tree by another male. We estimated the total number of Parula at ~65 individuals.
