It sounds then like it could have just been a combination of factors - maybe a greenish irridescent color on the ruby-throat (which I have seen in Green Cay), combined with the sun and angle, and possibly combined with pollen as well. I too had no luck finding any hummingbird anywhere in the US describing with yellow as primary color. Could be the pollen was the factor that really made it look so yellow - the wings beating quickly could have been a deeper shade or even green and would have been hard to tell the difference at full speed.
