Just as a follow up to RJ's comments ...

The attached photo shows the first adult Neotropic Cormorant (top left) observed this morning. It is paired with the Double-crested Cormorant to its right. They were observed displaying and briefly copulating at 7.12am, just after this photo was taken. This Neotropic Cormorant is a female - that is now confirmed. The male Double-crested stayed close by for some time and both played with twigs and quarreled with occupants of nearby nests. They were never seen to occupy any nest, so maybe this pair is just getting started.
