After kicking myself Sunday evening for not heading over to A D Barnes after the Matheson/Fairchild walk, I decided to try for the Willow Flycatcher this morning before work. Arriving at 6:50 AM, I proceeded to the trailer area where the bird was seen this weekend. An hour of searching and tape-playing produced no flycatcher, so at 7:50 AM I started heading back to my car. On the path between the nature center and the rehabilitation center, I heard a "whit." I looked up, and there before me was the Willow Flycatcher. In the 2 or 3 minutes that I watched it, it called a couple more times, then flew up and caught a small dragonfly. Having to head to work, I left the flycatcher with its breakfast. Florida bird # 403.
Seen while looking for the flycatcher, just in the area between the trailer and the rehabilitation center:
Cooper's Hawk
Red-tailed Hawk
Yellow-chevroned Parakeet
Red-eyed Vireo
Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher
Northern Parula
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Yellow-throated Warbler
Prairie Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
American Redstart
Worm-eating Warbler
Ovenbird
