And while you're up there searching for the Black-headed Gull at John Stretch Park, you can go over to Belle Glade Campground and see the first year Vermilion Flycatcher. Directions:

Belle Glade Campground and Marina are located as described in the previous message and in the Pranty book. In Belle Glade, take state rd 717 over the little one-way bridge onto the island and the volleyball field and parking area are just ahead on your left and the bird has been hunting from the power lines to the right.

Further:

"It was perching on the power lines and on top of the power poles just as you drive up to the
volleyball field. It did its fly-catching from the wires, then moved down to the open brush to the right of the power lines and sat in the sun preening in a very relaxed manner." -- this from a recent post to FLORIDABIRDS-L (for those who may not be subscribed to this discussion group.)
