I have had bad luck trying to find American Flamingo in the last few months. I have tried several times by plane without any luck. I have been meaning to try and see them since they showed up in Lake Ingraham. I even tried by plane there without out seeing them!

I called David and Robin today to find out news if they were seeing the birds. The cell phone service that far out does not work or does not work well. I finally got a call from David who told me about the 19-American Flamingos that they saw. I quickly got a birder who I was with from California, to agree to try for them. Of course by boat is the best way to try and see them. I took my huge 11-foot boat from Flamingo and made it to where the birds were seen in the morning at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon on a rising tide. The birds are on the east end of Lake Ingraham. We saw them as soon as we turned the corner going into Lake Ingraham. The tide was high and the birds were pretty wary. They did not allow us to get to close, this was probably due to the high tide. We still got wonderful views! It was pretty windy on the way back but worth getting wet for seeing these cool birds!
