I disagree. I have birded the Picayune Strand SF for many years in all seasons and have never seen anything remotely resembling a Henslow's Sparrow nor has any other full time birder that I know of as well. Areas of Collier County may superficially look like the habitat at Kissimmee Prairie but it isn't. Bring on the banders and prove me wrong. Until photographic evidence to the contrary is presented Henslow's Sparrow will remain off of the Collier County list despite its being accepted by the FOS Field Observations Committee. None of the more recent scant few sight records for this species south of Lake Okeechobee (one from Miami-Dade & now this one by R. Smith from Collier) were documented with photos. Say what you will about the abilities of the observers, etc. but I refer back to what Stevenson & Anderson say about this species needing documentation i.e. photographic or specimen documentation as I interpret it, for any sight records, especially one-person sight records for this species south of Lake Okeechobee. That's all I'm going to say about this topic.
