Exactly. That's why I questioned a report of one here in Collier County back in January of this year when I was the reviewer for eBird. The sighting was from a well-known "seasoned" birder. I asked for documentation and none was given so I deleted the sighting only to find that it was later added to the database by another eBird reviewer. I can't confirm the latter but I'm pretty confident). Stevenson & Anderson's account of this species reads, in part, "There seems to be ...no published documentation for sight reports south of Lake Okeechobee." Further, "other published reports from s[outh] Florida require documentation." Added to this, Henslow's Sparrow is absent from both the "Birds of the Naples Area: A Field Checklist" (1991) and "Birds of Collier County, Florida: Checklist" (2007). I have plans to write a comprehensive annotated checklist of the birds of Collier County and unless concrete evidence is produced showing that Henslow's Sparrow does in fact occur in Collier County, it will NOT be on the list.
